2019-2021 KDC Finalist

Working within the home’s existing footprint, the homeowners insisted on a completely bespoke design that pushed the design team to think outside the box. The couple was looking to create a space in the kitchen for the husband to call his own, while his wife dedicates time to her culinary passions. To the right of a large wall of windows, floor-to-ceiling cabinetry was created to offer much-needed storage space. It was built with slab doors to keep the wall clean, and wrapped in quarter-figured sycamore wood. The window and cooking wall house additional lower metal cabinets, and the prep area across from the cooking zone holds a butcher block, black walnut top, with a hole cut out for a composting container below.

The homeowner was a master at sous vide, and Wolf’s Vacuum Seal Drawer and Steamer Module were perfect for her cooking style. The Wolf Multi-function Gas Cooktop is located to the right of the steamer, making it easy to finish off the slow-cooked food. And, the sleek Wolf induction cooktop and built-in oven complement the design yet still offer fast and efficient means to cook. The design team used tried-and-true materials to create a beautiful space for this semi-professional cook.
