Lakewood

Regional Award Winner KDC 2010-12

"The home is an urban graystone with little natural light along its side elevations, as the dwellings next door are mere inches away. It was important to fill the space with light and reflective finishes to maximize the light that was available. Glossy white painted cabinetry is beautifully balanced with low luster driftwood stained cabinetry. The island wood "overskirt" adds interest and texture to the room, as does the antique mirror glass in the panels above the refrigerators. The room has two axes, with each elevation perfectly symmetrical. It is an ordered, calming design – yet has elements of surprise punctuated by banquette fabrics and accessories. The horizontal board and batten found in the banquette back, the island back and the hutch areas beneath the wall cabinets add to the linear and slightly contemporary feel in this fresh space."
